Under The Tuscan Sun

tuscan-sun-poster.jpg
The lovely Ms. Lane in her new movie Under The Tuscan Sun. The story is ok - it is the Hollywood (romanticized) version of 1997 memoire by Frances Mayes -, but you get to see the beautiful Tuscany (and Ms. Lane)

Gibbs Aquada

Remember that old James Bond's Movie (didn't remember which one) where his car went into a lake and transformed into a mini submarine? Well, this is not as cool as that but check it out --> http://www.aquada.co.uk/aquada/homepage.jsp?flash=true

UPDATED: Dex told me that the movie was "The Spy Who Loved Me" and the car was "Lotus Esprit"

Bowling for Columbine

What Michael Moore said on Oscar night when he received the award for Bowling for Columbine:

"Whoa. On behalf of our producers Kathleen Glynn and Michael Donovan from Canada, I'd like to thank the Academy for this. I have invited my fellow documentary nominees on the stage with us, and we would like to — they're here in solidarity with me because we like nonfiction. We like nonfiction and we live in fictitious times. We live in the time where we have fictitious election results that elects a fictitious president. We live in a time where we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons. Whether it's the fictition of duct tape or fictition of orange alerts we are against this war, Mr. Bush. Shame on you, Mr. Bush, shame on you. And any time you got the Pope and the Dixie Chicks against you, your time is up. Thank you very much."

Erica's New PowerBook

powerbook15.gif

Erica woke me up last night to show me her new 15" PowerBook (http://www.apple.com/powerbook/index15.html). Very cool little machine... It has the backlit keyboard with ambient light sensor and comes with the Wireless-G built-in. We setup it up to connect to my AP-2000.

Sonoma Chicken Coop

Went and had a dinner with Dex, Cyn, and Cherry last night. We went to Sonoma Chicken Coop located in San Pedro Square, a very nice little area in Downtown San Jose. It was really nice, we sat outside and really enjoyed our meal.

The food is very good. I had a lime grilled chicken and creme brulee for the dessert. Cyn ordered some seafood pasta that looked really good, and Dex had a half Chicken with Rooster Booster BBQ Sauce. Cherry didn't really enjoy her food, because she ordered something that was too spicy for her. But then she ordered a nice dessert, a Banana Sundae. Which she shared with her mom.

Dell's New Offering

Dex, told me about this news on USA today (http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/technology/2003-09-25-dell-cover_x.htm) which he found out from a link at techbargain.com.

Dell is going after the consumer market. The article mentioned that it should have a new website today that will clearly set apart the consumer from the business products. I went to the website this morning, but saw nothing new. I couldn't even find the new Axim and Dell DJ information. Maybe tomorrow...

Alice's Now and Zen

nowandzenticket.jpg

I went to Alice's Now and Zen Festival yesterday at the Golden Gate Park. It started at noon and ended at around 5:00. It was so hot. It got to be at least 95 degree. I saw Human, Matty, No Name and Sarah in person. No Name is not as big as his photo showed and Sarah looked more like a soccer mom than a radio DJ.

I came a little late and miss the first band, Maroon 5. Liz Phair was on stage when I got there. She's the cutest little thing... :-)

The next performer was somebody I don't know who performed two or three songs to pay a tribute to the Man in Black, Johny Cash.

Seal came on stage next. This guy is BIG. He got to be at least 6'6". He performed all his hits including Crazy, prayer for the dying, and some of the song from his new album. My favorite one is 'Love's Divine'! To listen to Seal IV complete songs visit this site --> http://www.bandbuilder.com/seal/player.php?ref_code=D21407

The last performer is Duran Duran in its original line up (Nick, John, Simon, Andy, and Roger). The girls behind me went crazy when John came out on the stage. They performed all their hits (including my favorite, 'Come Undone') plus three of their new song. Below is the set list from the concert

FRIENDS OF MINE
HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF
PLANET EARTH
COME UNDONE
WHAT HAPPENS TOMORROW
NEW RELIGION
VIRUS
ORDINARY WORLD
SAVE A PRAYER
NOTORIOUS
WILD BOYS
CARELESS MEMORIES
RIO

ENCORES

WHITE LINES
GIRLS ON FILM

9/11 Anniversary

Today marked the second anniversary of 9/11, and I started listening to NPR again after a long break.

On KQED's Forum today they were talking about the current state of the nation (economy, politic, etc.) and on the second half of the show they were taking calls from listener to talk about how 9/11 has personally changed their lives. Lots of caller talked about their personal experience and loss. (Not surprisingly, there were also lots of Bush bashing.)

Where was I when 9/11 happened?

I woke up that morning to the sound of Lisa Kreisler announcing the first crashed on WTC. They weren't so sure if that's an accident or a terrorist attack. I jumped out of the bed, went downstair and turned on the TV. I watched the second plan crash on the tower ini horror. Boy, was I panic when I heard the news guy said "We Are Being Attacked". What was I going to do?

I stayed in front of the TV until about 8:30 AM, and then went to work. It's funny because it felt like nothing big happened. Nobody said anything. They were busy (or pretend to be) doing their own thing. Beau came in a little later, and he didn't know what had happened. After George and I told him, he turned on the the TV in the advertising room, and we spent that day watching the news while working. Everyone comes to our ofice to watch the news at lunch time, and Deb broke down in tears at one point.

The next morning have American flag everywhere. On their desk, office door, car, etc. Beau even printed out small flags and gave them to everyone. Early in the morning G told us not to turn on the TV because he doesn't want people to come to our ofice and not working. He bassically treated us like little kids... What a Jerk!

Have 9/11 changed me?

Somewhat! I started listening to talk show radio. NPR, KQED, and KPFA. And also I started paying more attention to the middle east news and american politics.

yada... yada... yada...

New Blog

This is my second attempt to set up my blog site. I was too lazy to write on my first blog, it had only three or four entries and lasted only a few weeks. I hope this will last longer :-)

It is 6:22 PM according to my PC clock and I am still at work. I finished lots of photos for the catalog and added 8 new product pages for the website today. Another productive day!

I thought I setup a new blog before I go home ... a real Blog! LOL. So this is it! My new rants and ramblings blog site powered by MovableType (Thanks to Mena and Ben from Six Apart! )

Alrighty! This is my first entry. I'll write some more later. Going home now...
